On this episode Matt is joined by Visionary Artist, Charlie Potesky. Charlie is currently based in Denver, though he recently moved from Austin, where he and Matt met at several events. Charlie creates immersive, colorful, and psychedelic paintings inspired by his experiences with plant medicines like cannabis, mushrooms and DMT (The Spirit Molecule). Additionally he paints stunningly accurate portraits of comedians and icons from psychedelic culture, both past and current, like Terence McKenna, Mike Tyson, Duncan Trussell and many more.
During the podcast we learn about how Charlie began creating art, and why he prefers paint on canvas over creating images digitally. The two then riff on trippy and mind-stimulating topics like simulation theory, infinite consciousness, remote viewing, dreams, archetypes, the great mystery of existence and beyond. He explores a range of genres in his productions, most often characterized by epic cinematic movements and soaring vocal melodies. His work ranges from heavy bangers to deeper emotional tracks, inspired by his travels around the world--capturing and reflecting the feelings of awe that arise from witnessing some of the earth’s most epic natural beauty.
