On this episode Matt sits down for Part 2 of his conversation with Michael Garfield. Transmedia artist and performance philosopher Michael Garfield helps people navigate our age of accelerating weirdness — and cultivate the curiosity and play we'll need to thrive in it. As a musician, Michael’s songs and avant-guitar have opened hearts and minds across four continents. His music has been featured everywhere from PBS to Burning Man to the FDA’s clinical trials for MDMA. As an illustrator and painter, Michael draws inspiration from both science and mysticism to make verdant and exultant artwork at countless festivals, live art residencies, and anywhere else he can. As an essayist and host of Future Fossils Podcast, Michael writes on the intersections of evolution, technology, and art, and shares vital conversations from the frontiers of our psychedelic century.
During the conversation we learn how Michael's experiences with supernatural beings informed his music, and his thoughts about these beings in general. The two then riff on the power of music, lyrics and their respective musical influences. On this episode Matt sits down with Liya Garber.
After struggling in an unfulfilled life as a business executive in New York City, Liya embarked on her yoga journey to pursue self-healing and the astonishing results kept her from ever looking back, even restoring her thyroid autoimmunity through a combination of Kundalini Yoga and the aid of experienced naturopaths. Since then, she’s been dedicated to creating a sacred space for humankind to expand their consciousness, and connect the dots between mind, body, and spirit.
Liya has a rare gift for teaching and establishing a joyful, lighthearted environment filled with laughter in which all students can align with their inner truths. Her studies have taken her all around the world from Guatemala to India, bringing her weekly classes, retreats, and workshops all over prominent venues across the Bay Area. And now, she hopes to take her authentic and progressive approach to her inquisitive students at Aura Kundalini Yoga internationally.
During the conversation the two dive into the frequency of Kundalini Yoga, and why the practice is so powerful. They also speak about the controversy the Kundalini Yoga community has endured in recent years, and how to create a new paradigm of Kundalini Experience in the wake of it. Savej holds a deep passion for his frequent collaborations with indigenous tribes and has been entrusted as a bridge to infuse indigenous medicine songs into his music, a mission which is reciprocated by directly supporting the cultures they originate from via donation of record sales and creation of NFTs infusing indigenous art and music.
During the conversation the two dive deeply into the topic of manifestation; what the term means, how to use it, and what is meant and not meant for you to manifest. They then discuss synchronicity generally, but then specifically in relation to Ketamine, a dissociative psychedelic medicine, that seems to amplify synchronicity, or our understanding of it. Finally the two land on the topic of Aliens - what they are, their intentions, and our relationship to them. On this episode Matt sits down with Martin Ball. Martin W. Ball, Ph.D., is a writer, independent publisher, nondual guide and consultant, visionary artist, and musician currently living in Ashland Oregon. In the spring of 2009 Martin underwent a profound energetic opening and transformation - the product of intensive work with entheogenic medicines and a year of profound self-exploration. The result is Martin's articulation of what he calls the "Entheological Paradigm," a Grand Unified Theory of all of reality from God to the direct experience of each human being, which he characterizes as an articulation of his view on “radical nonduality.” His approach is unique in that he sees the tension between duality and nonduality not as a spiritual or religious issue, but as an energetic issue that can best be addressed through the intentional use of powerful entheogens, such as 5-MeO-DMT. As such, his approach is thoroughly practical, straight-forward, and free of metaphysics, speculation, and attachment to spiritual or religious ideologies and mythologies. The result is a view of the nature of reality and the self that is challenging, liberating, and powerfully transformative, pointing to the true nature of being and personal responsibility as an energetic being.
